11th Winchester Scout MTB Ride – Texas Field, Compton Down and Bearing

This event is for the 11th Scout Winchester ONLY

We’ll meet at 7:00 PM at the recreation ground and aim to start at 7:30 PM.

Pick up between 9 and 9:15 PM. The recreation ground gate will be closed at 9:30 PM.

We will start by riding around the recreation ground’s dedicated trail to assess each rider’s abilities before embarking on a group exploration of the countryside between Oliver’s Battery and Compton Down.

Please remember to bring bike lights (front and back) as we will return at night.

I recommend the following items of clothing to ensure a basic level of safety is achieved.

• Full-fingered gloves
• Full-length trousers and long-sleeved top as the area still has a lot of brambles.
• Flat-soled shoes or trainers – NOT a shoe with a heel
• Helmet
• Eyewear if possible

It’s important to remember that mountain biking is a potentially dangerous activity. Please remind your children to listen to the leaders at all times. Additionally, ensure that your bike and kit are in good condition, as a poorly maintained bike could affect the entire group’s ride. It’s essential to check the brakes, as we will be riding downhill, and functioning brakes are crucial to avoid injuries.
