Before we ride
Fab Rides is not a club and not a business. There are no clients here, only fellow riders. This ride is arranged between friends, nobody is paying and nobody is being paid, and every rider looks after themselves. Fill this in before we set off. If any of it doesn’t work for you, don’t sign. Come for the coffee instead, no hard feelings.
There is no qualified first aider on this ride
The ride leader’s first aid certification expired in July 2026 and renewal is in progress. Plan for that: carry a charged phone, be able to describe where you are (what3words, a dropped pin or an OS grid reference), carry your own medication and a small first aid kit, and be ready to call 999 or 112 yourself.
The ride
Ride leader: Fabrizio de Liberali, riding as a fellow rider.
You
So somebody can identify you and reach the right person if it goes wrong.
Please give your full name.
Please give a mobile number.
Please name someone we can call.
Please give their number.
Your health
Only what a paramedic would need to know. Nothing else.
Do you have any medical condition, allergy, medication or recent injury that could affect your safety on this ride?
Please answer yes or no.
If you answered yes, take your own medical advice before riding, bring your medication, and tell the leader on the day where it is.
What you’re agreeing to
Read it properly. It is short on purpose.
An unpaid ride between friends
The ride leader is choosing a route and navigating on a best-effort basis, as a fellow rider, not as a commercial, qualified or professionally certified guide, coach or instructor. No instruction, supervision or duty of care beyond that of an ordinary riding companion is offered or implied.
You look after yourself
You are responsible for your own fitness, food, water, clothing and lights, and for riding within your own limits. A correctly fitted helmet must be worn at all times. Nobody has inspected the trails for you: you decide whether to ride, walk or skip any section, and nothing the leader or another rider says is a warranty that a line is safe for you.
Hired bikes and kit
Bikes for this ride are hired, and the hire shop supplies the helmet and the trailside repair kit. Your hire agreement is between you and the shop, not the ride leader. Before you set off, check the bike yourself (brakes, tyres, wheels and axles, dropper post, gears), check the helmet fits you and is undamaged, and make sure you know how to use the repair kit you have been given. Raise anything that is wrong with the shop, before the ride starts. The ride leader has not inspected the hired equipment, has no control over it, and gives no assurance about its condition or suitability for you. Damage to a hired bike is a matter between you and the shop, so check what their damage cover includes before you sign for it.
The risks are real
Mountain biking carries risks that cannot be designed out: rough, steep and loose terrain, unseen obstacles, drops, trees and rock, other trail and road users, livestock, weather, mechanical failure, collision, falling, serious or fatal injury, and slow access for emergency services in remote places.
Claims
To the fullest extent permitted by law you release the ride leader and the other riders from any claim for loss, damage, illness or injury arising from your participation, including damage to your bike and kit, and you agree not to bring a financial or legal claim arising from it. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. English law does not allow that, and this form does not pretend otherwise.
Insurance
No personal accident cover is provided and no commercial or public liability policy covers this ride. Your own cover is your responsibility: personal accident, travel, or a membership such as British Cycling or Cycling UK, which usually includes third-party liability. Check your policy.
On the day
Obey the Highway Code on public roads, respect access rights, livestock and other trail users, and tell somebody if you turn round, drop off the back or head home early, so nobody spends the evening looking for you.

What happens to your information. It is collected for one purpose: so somebody can reach your emergency contact and give a paramedic the right information if something goes wrong on this ride. The ride leader holds it, shows it to nobody except emergency or medical staff if needed, and destroys it within 30 days of the ride unless an incident makes it necessary to keep it. It is never used for mailing lists. Ask at any time to see or delete it.
